Step‑by‑step
- Open Model3DPrintStart a new design in your browser — free, nothing to install.
- Create the bodyAdd 3D text for a word or initial, or pick a simple shape like a heart or star from the library. Keep it at least 3 mm thick so it survives daily use.
- Add a connected ringPlace a torus (ring) overlapping the edge of your body, with a hole big enough for a key ring — about 5–6 mm inner diameter.
- Reinforce the joinAdd a small box or cylinder bridging the ring and the body so the thin connection does not snap. This is the #1 reason keychains break.
- Combine into one solidSelect everything and Join so it exports as a single watertight object.
- Check the thicknessUse the printability check to make sure no wall is thinner than your nozzle can print (usually 0.8 mm minimum).
- Export and printExport the STL, slice with a little extra wall count for strength, and print flat on the bed.
Pro tip
Flat‑on‑the‑bed orientation gives the strongest keychain, because the layers run across the ring instead of along it.
